History
Merl Goodmanson, founder of Goodmanson
Construction Inc., was raised in Lauderdale, MN
working for Cypher Cement since he was just 15
years old. After high school he joined the United
States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged
in June of 1969 and worked his way through college at
the U of M as a ready-mix cement truck driver. In the
spring of 1971, Merl established Goodmanson
Construction, Inc. He set his standards high, with
the goal of providing the highest quality of work and
unparalleled reliability.
In 1978, Merl’s wife Cami began to help Merl
grow his business. She took charge of paperwork
and customer service, so Merl could work on more
projects. Soon the phones were ringing off the hook
with neighbors demanding work from Goodmanson
Construction. Merl soon began expanding his crew,
and the company built a strong reputation.
Meanwhile, son Rick Goodmanson attended
Arizona State University for three years.
He came home to Roseville to help grow the family
business in 2003. He graduated in 2004 from St.
Cloud State University with a degree in Aviation
Management. Today Rick is Goodmanson Construction’s
project manager and does an excellent job managing
the crews in the field. Rick isn’t the only Goodmanson
who has a hand in the family business.
Newly wed Kim Elm attended Hamline University for
four years and graduated in 2002 with a B.A. degree.
Kim brings a fresh new approach to our Sales
and Marketing leadership team.
